New things coming my way!

I am very excited to announce to those of you who would like to have a look, that my new website is up and running!

Sarah Sutherland Photography

I am in the process if figuring out how to add photos and galleries, but I really wanted to get it going :)
While trying to make things official, I registered my business, and am now Sarah Sutherland Photography! I am still mainly Equine based, but am looking to expand to family sessions with their pets. So, if you are in the area, and have a dog, cat, bird, lizard, child... (just kidding) Check out my site, and keep stopping in as I get more sessions up, as the featured galleries will change... Drop me a line and let me know if you are interested in booking a session in! As much as I love this weather we are going to have soon, I am looking forward to fall sessions with all the leaves changing colour. Let me know what you prefer, and book your date in now to make sure you get first priority! I am still taking weekend bookings for now, but I am hoping to get weekday sessions started soon while kids are out of school for the summer

I am also excited about my upcoming session this weekend, I will be photographing an Andalusian Stallion *sigh* Sneak Peek photos to come soon!

I love my job ;)

Long time no see!

So, yeah... Wow! I didn't realise it had been so long since my last post! I have been so busy getting things up and running, and time just flew by!

My first road trip went very well, had a couple of cancellations unfortunately, but I will have to be a bit more prepared next time I think... It's a learning process!

I have a website that should be up and running sometime today, which I am extremely excited about, as well as I am in the process of registering my business name!

I will post a few photos of the beautiful horses I had the pleasure of photographing this past week in the next day or so. I am loving the theme of movement and life. I love the long mane look on a horse, and every horse I photographed, either had a long or a thick mane, which made for some wild looking photos :)

I encourage comments on my blog, so if there is something you would like to see in your photo sessions, by all means, drop me an email and let me know! I am hoping to be able to go down to part time work soon, and am looking for steady photography work, so please let me know if you are interested!

Chat soon!

Website to come?...

Hello all!

I have been asked by a few people what my pricing will be, and it has been difficult deciding, as I am just starting out, and am not sure what a beginner photographer would charge. The only friends I have who are photographers, photograph people... So, this is all new to me :)

I am looking into getting a website for myself which will list my pricing information. Now my next big decision is which website design company to go with...

Grad photos??...

One idea that was brought to my attention was the idea of having grad photo sessions with your horses. Is this something that would be of interest?
This would be a great opportunity (After your Dinner/Dance) to wear your grad dress, play it up a bit with something cute too, like cowgirl boots, cowboy hat, etc. Make it your own, fun, and colourful

Same rates would apply, $50 for 1-2 hours of photo time, a disk with raw images from the session, and 5 edited images.

I was thinking I can either come to your location, or we can have a bunch of sessions at one location, like Campbell Valley Park or something similar. I can also come across the bridge if Langley is not convenient.

Please let me know if this might be something you or someone you know might be interested in!

Road Trip!!!

So, now I am hoping to ask a question and get a few responses from my readers/horse lovers...

I am planning on doing two road trips this summer to the Okanagan/Lower Interior, and to Vancouver island. The reason for these road trips will be strictly for photo sessions. Now I'm still new to this, as you can read from past posts, so I'm not really sure where some good places are for photo sessions in these areas, and if people are able to meet me there instead of me driving to everyone. Which seems like a better idea? I can get way more sessions done if people can meet in one spot for designated session times... It just depends on how many people are wanting photos.

What my sessions would include
        - 1 Hour of photo time
        - Unlimited raw images on a disk for your use to print wherever you would like
        - 5 edited images
All for $50!!

Not too shabby if I do say so myself!

Don't have a horse? I can bring treats and squeaky toys to take pictures of your puppies too!

My stops for the Lower Interior trip would be Kamloops, Cash Creek, 100 Mile, and Williams Lake. If I can't fit every ones sessions on the way up, I can certainly stop on the way back down! I might have my 2 1/2 year old with me, so we might have to make a few stops ;) I'm thinking, with the amount of driving, I would be looking at a 3 day, two night trip.

As for the Vancouver Island trip, it would depend on how many people would be interested, and what part of the island they are situated in

I'm pretty excited about all this! Thank you all so much for your support! If this all goes well, it might end up being an annual trip!

Boca & Marley

While taking advantage of the beautiful sunny weather yesterday, I took my camera to my friends barn for a fun photo session. They are always fun, but this pony had spunk :) Kari is my friend who I had mentined in my very first post on here, as she rekindled my love for horses, and I am forever greatful for this. This above everything else has pushed me into finding something that I love doing, being aroung horses and carrying my camera in hopes of finding some pretty great shots.  Kari has owned Boca since birth, and this pony is quite a character, let me tell you...
Here are just a few pictures from our saturday afternoon session, which won't be our last one, that's for sure :)

Remmy & Kate

After taking a bit of time photographing scenery (thank you BC weather) We got some sun, and I was able to take advantage of it for a short last minute photo shoot! Luckily, I live in Langley, and live right down the street from Remmy & Kate! Remmington is a bay thoroughbred gelding that was rescued by Karlee in December 2012, and Kate, who is owned by Carly, is a 21 year old Quarter horse mare who is very sweet, and has a very cute nose (Those of you who know me, know I'm all about the noses) I know this won't be the last we have seen of them, by far... We are planing on doing another outdoorsy session at Campbell Valley Park during the day, and I'm pretty excited about that. Keep checking in for more photos of these two! They are seriously so cute together :) It's really neat to see when not only are the owners of the horses are good friends, but that the horses themselves have bonded. I have to say that I really do love hearing the happy rescue stories, and this one really does have a happy ending <3
